The last of the true David Brown lineup, the DB6 was Aston Martin's swan song. Coming off the success of the DB5, the brand set out to refine the vehicle for high speed touring and comfort. Wind tunnel testing, chassis lengthening and the famous Kammback tail all aided stability dubbing the new DB6 "the gentleman's express." A staple of high end British design, famous owners included Mick Jagger, Peter Sellers, Paul McCartney and Prince Charles.
This DB6 was first purchased in France where it spent most of its early life. Subsequently chassis 4037 received a ground up restoration in 1990 at marque specialist Provost in Le mans, France. Specified by the owner was a no expense concours restoration with a LHD conversion. The vehicle was then brought to North America and was once part of the famous John Carr collection in Norfolk, Virginia. This sports saloon has since been updated to Vantage spec, with a complete new interior and a respray in Silver Birch. It currently shows 29,100 kilometers.
The interior of this DB6 has been completely restored to concours level. The Red Connolly leather seats, matching carpets and doors are said to be in excellent condition. The Smiths gauges are in proper working order including the clock, the 6000 rpm tachometer, the 300 km/h speedometer and the Lucas ammeter. The wood rimmed steering wheel is in very good condition.
Powering this DB6 is its matching numbers 3,995cc straight six motor #400/4131. The engine has been completely rebuilt with updated Vantage specifications including Triple Weber DCOE9 Carbs. Documentation of the build including the dyno spec sheet is included. Paired to the motor is its correct 5 speed ZF gearbox #S5/325/2546 and all the gears operate smoothly. A desirable Harvey Bailey Handling Package along with a telescopic rear shock conversion keeps the vehicle planted on the road. All maintenance is up to date and vehicle records show work from marque expert Kevin Kay.
Setting this Aston apart is the documentation accompanying the vehicle. A 1969 registration from France, 1990's restoration from Provost, receipts from Kevin Kay and its BMHT are some the many records in its impressive binder. This DB6 is currently plated with a clean title in Ontario, Canada.
